Weekly Reflection 2!

 Hello!

This week was a little different, but still lots of fun! We had a full day on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but Thursday and Friday were scheduled weirdly. This week we zoned in on our research for our final poster presentation for the Express Fest. I was researching training techniques and what to do and what not to do while training a dog, the importance of veterinary care for our precious animals, as well as breed specifics. I spent a lot of time on the American Kennel Club website this week. Looking at different training tips and other things that I find interesting and one thing that I found to be incredibly interesting was that dogs aren’t born to understand English, or any other language is spoken in the home. So the new dog you just brought home has no idea what the word “no” means, which means that you have to show that dog what you want him to do so he makes an association between the action and the sound coming out of your mouth. Also, training your dog with high-quality treats is very important. It would be better to train using a piece of cheese, chicken, or liver rather than even premium store-bought treats. This is because the dog will certainly work harder for those higher-quality treats, which is fascinating! They know the difference between the low and high quality. And one more cool thing, dogs know your attitude, so make sure you keep a positive attitude because they know the difference and are more likely to listen to you if they can sense positivity and happiness from their owners. Anyways I am going to stop going on and on about these things because there will be plenty in our final presentation. This is the last week on campus, and we are looking forward to finishing our senior project on a very high note.
